King Street will be closed in the vicinity of the High School project on Wednesday and Thursday this week. Thursday, September 21, is a scheduled school closure.
The purpose of this work is to perform a water tap into the water main on King Street and run the new water main onto the new school parcel.
The other work to be performed is a Test Pit to locate utilities so a new Sanitary Manhole can be designed.
Work on 9/20 will consist of sawcutting the pavement in preparation for the excavation to take place on 9/21. This work will take place between 9 am and Noon and the road will not be closed. There will be a Police Officer on site to direct traffic around the sawcutting.
The work on 9/21 will consist of the excavation, water tap, installing pipe, backfilling and paving. Also there will be excavation and backfilling in the proposed Sanitary Manhole location. This work will start at 7 am and finish sometime between 4 pm and 7 pm.
King Street will be completely closed from just south of the carwash entrance to just north of the south entrance of the school parking lot.
There will be access for local traffic only past the intersection of King Street and Catherine Street. There will be access from Barnum Ave only for the carwash and the north side of the school.
